Monday 10-6-09 Sanoviv - Day 2 after Surgery

Good morning!  Day 2 after surgery and things are looking really well.

Shelly is in her regular clothes - shorts and tank top.  She looks radiant as usual.  She has a fairly full schedule...although we did miss our first appointment since we found it hard to believe she would be off to full treatments so early and were waiting for her Dr. to clarify.  Oh well, it gave her some extra time for a mid AM nap.

She was scheduled for the hyerbaric chamber (which we missed), IV therapies and quiet room treatments.  She was also scheduled for a hyerthermia which we protested. They took it off her schedule. :-)  We couldn't imagine how she could do that with her bandages, etc.

Her incisions are quite clean and healing well.  She slept like a rock last night.  She has a bandage wrapped around her abdomen to keep pressure on the incisions and keep the fluid build up down.  It looks like a big tube top under her blouse.  She was glad to get out of the hospital gown for sure.  I little too breezy in the back.  :-)

I think she will be down to lunch since Dr. Wentz (the founder of Sanoviv) is on site and is expected to join the guests.

We had a restful day yesterday, hanging out, listening to music, playing cards.  Her spirits are high.  She misses the kids and that grandbaby a lot!

We meet with the Dr. this afternoon.  Pray he has the pathology reports from the lymphy nodes.

Today's devotional...finding joy in every circumstance.  The Joy Giver is the source...not our enviroment, people, or circumstances.  Right on!

Hugs to all...more later!

  1. Dearest Shelly,
I don't know why or what planet I've been on but I have just been informed about your challenge. I had no idea you were diagnosed with breast cancer. What???? Mom just told me today about your blog and I realized that you had sent me an email last week in regards to it. I probably get 200 emails a day..and thats after that spam file has done its job. I run through them quickly, pull out the criticals and then go back later and check out the happy stuff. I assumed your's would just be a happy one and therefore I left it until today. I can't believe it. What, how, when details??? all mom said was that you were diagnosed with breast cancer and thought you had gone to mexico for treatment. Wow..this must have been a shocker for you. What type of cancer have they diagnosed and what size was the tumor? All that aside, you look BEAUTIFUL! And that cancer has no idea who it just tried to mess with. VANCE women are fighters and we don't take cancer lying down. Full of the Spirit of the Living God, we live victorious lives! the devil and his schemes are no match! I've probably filled up this little chat box, so I will stop now and allow you to respond. Only if you are able. Consider this a huge boquet of flowers that speak of your Creators beauty and know that I will be praying for you daily. YOur cousin Marcelle

  2. Hey mom, just wanted to let you know that I love you and miss you! Hope your day goes well.

This is one of my favorite verses :)

1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. 3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. 4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life.

    -Isaiah 43:1-4

    Love you!

  3. Hey mom, it was so good to talk to you yesterday even though we didn't actually mean to call you. ;) We made it home from Sacramento safely but boy what a trip! Between wedding and your surgery, I think Rach and I were more stressed out there than if we were here! You sound so good though, and I know God guided the surgeons hand. Sounds like he had a good sense of humor too! Apparently your grandbaby was thinking about you too the whole time cuz I have no idea how she dialed your number, of all numbers, when it hadn't even been a recent call Rachel had made or anything. :) She is doing well but has a little cold right now so her voice is pretty hoarse but cute. ;) Getting ready to see Kara off tomorrow so a whole new setup will be in place again. We will miss having her here but I'm sure she needs the time away to get her bearings again. You are sorely missed! Like the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder... It definitely has shown us what a strong foundation you are to this household! I promise your workload will lighten when you get back because we now see how much you have to do to keep this household going and I'm amazed you haven't had a nervous breakdown thus far!!! I love you with all my heart and can't wait to see you again, but know that you are in the best place you can possibly be at this time in your life. Hugs and kisses from me and baby girl. We show her your picture every day. :)

    Hannah
